we-do-IT: SAP-Certified ERP Mobility Solution Pioneer
About 20 years ago, while visiting a customer’s site, an unusual query came across Dr Walter Hesse, the group managing director of we-do-IT. The client wanted we-do-IT to implement the world-first SAP Certified GIS interface. “An integration project of this kind had never been done in the energy sector before,” says Dr Hesse. “With a team of dedicated expert consultants we were able to operationalize an interface that is still in production to-date.” Many years have gone past, and we-do-IT has performed similar projects with resonating success at Powercor, CitiPower, Water Corporation, Mercury Energy, City of Tacoma, Puget Sound, Jemena, and Multi-Net Gas.
Over recent years, we-do-IT has been instrumental in reinventing the electricity, gas, and telco landscapes through its SAP-certified ERP Mobility Solution LatLonGO Integration with Innovapptive/mWorkOrder. The GIS agnostic LatLonGO solution was developed and released by we-do-IT bespoke for Ausnet Services following an intense four-week competitive shoot-out in 2013. “We won against legacy GIS players and delivered to exacting customer requirements even when our product had zero reference sites at that point. Since then, the solution has been leveraged by many major electricity, gas, and telco customers including 4.8 million connection points in Australia, New Zealand, UK, Germany, and Luxembourg. The solution has been selected by leading cable management solution provider, JoSoftware in Germany to be marketed as cableScout mobile to their 300+ customers in 20 countries.
We have developed and implemented SAP/GIS interfaces on a number of customer sites, embedded two-way GIS clients inside various SAP technologies
At the core of the SAP/GIS development work lies the integration that we-do-IT has formulated with SAP WorkManager6.1 Open UI as well as the embedding of LatLonGO web client into the SAP NetWeaver Business Client SAP-PM and SAP-MRS modules. Since we-do-IT has embedded LatLonGO inside Innovapptive’s mobile EAM portfolio in order to create the most configurable enterprise-grade SAP Mobile Plant Maintenance solution on the market. “Innovapptive became consecutive SAP Pinnacle Award Winner in 2015 and 2016 for their powerful digitization framework that accelerates time to market and reduces total cost of mobility ownership.” The foundation of the LatLonGO platform is the HERE Mobile SDK taking full advantage of the powerful and flexible HERE location platform.
The LatLonGO/HERE clients can be embedded in traditional back-office applications such as SAP Plant Maintenance, Multiple Resource Scheduling, and SAP-SMP/Work Orders, as well as more advanced offerings like Innovapptive/mWorkOrder. In addition, it also allows mobile workers to search assets offline and navigate them, receive red- and black-line notifications, and perform work order tasks. “We have developed and implemented SAP/GIS interfaces on a number of customer sites, embedded two-way GIS web clients inside SAP Classic and NetWeaver Business Client, as well as LatLonGO mobile-touch client inside SAP WorkManager/Syclo and Innovapptive mWorkOrder and Rapid Application Configuration Environment (RACE).” This end-to-end integration delivers work order planning, resource allocation, work order field execution and close-out.
we-do-IT has grown a successful India Right- Shoring practice in Hyderabad from zero to 180+ staff in the last four years. “The only way of keeping pace with the rapidly evolving SAP solutions is to seek best-of-breed partner solutions and integrate each others’ technologies to fast-track market offerings,” explains Dr Hesse. “This allows us to offer cost-competitive SAP development and data services to our global customer base while using customer-facing resources onsite.” we-do-IT is ISO 9001:2015 Certified for the provision of IT-based consulting, training and product development services.
